Development notes / Updated 21 October 2026

A small beginning.
A home with a future.

We are building the first few minutes carefully: a traveller, an open timber shelter and an abandoned Japanese 4×4 in a small painted valley. The much larger adventure begins with making this little place feel right.

In the current development build

The first shelter.

A place to start

A stationary open shelter, a short foot trail and a non-working Japanese Scout. There is no house movement, construction, repairing or driving in this demo.

Bring the Scout home

Find the car, release its brake and let gravity take it downhill. Carry the pulley block to the tow eye, connect it, pull the rope by hand and secure the car beneath the roof.

Our own traveller

A custom painted anime character has been created in GPT Images, modelled in Tripo and fitted to an existing skeleton and animation set. The video shows this character in the actual game.

Progress that stays

Recovery and save/reload have been tested in the native build, including restarting while the car rolls, while hauling and after recovery. These checks are part of development, rather than a public release announcement.

Next / Before calling the first demo finished

Make the small things feel right.

The complete recovery has now been played with normal controls, including restarting a stopped pull, and saves have resumed in separate game launches. The remaining pass focuses on sound review, final visual polish and a packaged build that can be launched cleanly. Character hands, rope connections, camera framing and the feel of pulling the car all need to hold up together.

No public demo download or release date is announced yet. The recorded clip is real development gameplay; the finished-opening image is a visual target.

Future direction / Planned ideas, beyond the first demo

A house that becomes yours.

The larger game is about taking your home into the world. Begin tiny and add rooms upward and sideways until a patched, creature-like castle has grown around your life. Japanese-inspired forms, carefully shaped timber, painted surfaces and cosy interiors guide the art.

Build piece by piece

Inspired by the freedom of Enshrouded: place and remove walls, floors, roofs and smaller pieces, mix materials and cut openings. Room blueprints may help you begin, while custom construction gives every home its own shape.

Stay small, or grow

Tiny, small, medium, large and giant homes should offer different advantages. A small home could travel farther and reach narrow routes; a large home gains space but needs more support. Each travel rig has size, weight or combined limits. Beyond giant, an oversized home can settle permanently.

Change how you travel

Keep the home you love and replace the rig beneath it. Simple rolling supports, stable wheels, articulated tread, walking legs and water flotation are ideas under study. Different routes, cargo and maintenance needs should make each useful.

Understand every moving part

Begin with wood and simple rope mechanisms. Later, learn, discover or invent better materials and parts. An exploded leg view could reveal joints, beams, bearings and pulleys to build, repair and improve. This is a future system, not an upgrade menu in the demo.

A living framework

The living support need not always be a tree. A vine might bind the house together; roots or branching timber could support another design. How living growth strengthens the home, and what it costs to maintain, remains a design question.

Room to invent

We want player-made travel mechanisms to succeed or fail for understandable reasons: balance, load, traction and power. That freedom still needs prototyping. A beautiful concept alone does not prove a mechanism works.

The art direction we are keeping

Crafted pieces.
Wonderfully irregular homes.

The selected studies guide particular details: Tallwind and Mountain Roller interiors; Windwheel Ark’s long-legged bridge shape and landscapes; the different Terracotta Treader and Boulder Hearth house styles; and a durable replacement for the Rolling Quilt mechanism. They are inspirations, rather than six final production models.
